Texas AG Cracks Down On Sharia City

This week, Ken Paxton took decisive action to protect communities in Collin County from a deeply troubling development proposal tied to the East Plano Islamic Center.

In a formal letter to the Collin County Commissioners Court, Attorney General Paxton urged local officials to reject any further progress on the proposed “EPIC City” project, a development already surrounded by serious legal and ethical concerns.

The letter follows a lawsuit filed by Paxton targeting what appears to be an attempt to bypass state oversight entirely. The release from Paxton’s office notes a municipal utility district annexation was carried out “exclusively to aid EPIC City avoid state regulatory oversight.” 

That alone should raise red flags for every Texan!

Even more concerning, the Attorney General pointed to “myriad legal problems” tied to the development, including potential violations of securities laws. These are not minor technicalities; these are serious allegations that demand accountability. Paxton’s message to Collin County leaders was direct: stand firm and do not approve this project.

The Commissioners Court has already shown caution by refusing to approve a plat application due to deficiencies. The Attorney General encouraged them to continue down that path in light of the mounting legal concerns. 

At its core, this issue is about more than zoning or permits. It is about whether outside interests can manipulate legal loopholes to reshape Texas communities without transparency or accountability.

Public officials have a duty to ensure that:

• Developments follow Texas law, not work around it

• Local communities are protected, not sidelined

• Taxpayer-funded systems are not exploited for ideological or financial gain

When projects attempt to dodge oversight, Texans have every right to ask why. Texas has long stood as a beacon of law, order, and common sense governance. That standard must be upheld, especially when powerful organizations attempt to push boundaries behind closed doors!

Now, the responsibility shifts to local officials in Collin County. They must choose transparency over pressure, accountability over expediency, and the interests of Texas families over any outside influence.

Once ground is broken on a project built on questionable foundations, the consequences don’t just impact one county; they ripple across the entire state.
