Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has once again shown strong leadership in defending Texas and ensuring state law is followed in public schools across Texas. This week, Attorney General Paxton announced a statewide investigation into nearly 30 Independent School Districts to ensure compliance with Texas’ Ten Commandments law and new protections for voluntary prayer in schools.

The investigation comes after a major legal victory for the State of Texas earlier this year when the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld Senate Bill 10, the law requiring public schools to display donated copies of the Ten Commandments in classrooms. The court’s ruling cleared the way for the law to take effect statewide and dealt a major blow to activist groups attempting to remove Christianity and America’s moral foundation from public life.

Texas Family Project fully supports Attorney General Paxton’s efforts to ensure school districts are obeying the law rather than attempting to undermine it through delay tactics or political resistance. According to the Attorney General’s office, districts under investigation must provide records regarding whether they are displaying the Ten Commandments and whether their school boards held required votes regarding the implementation of voluntary prayer periods under Senate Bill 11.

Attorney General Paxton stated, “I will always fight for students’ fundamental right to pray in our schools and work to ensure Texas kids are able to learn from the Ten Commandments daily.” He also emphasized that school districts “must comply with Texas law.”

For decades, radical activists have worked to erase Christianity from schools and public institutions while simultaneously demanding Americans celebrate every woke ideology and belief system. The Ten Commandments are not only a religious document but also a historical foundation for Western law, morality, and American civilization itself. Principles such as honoring parents and prohibiting murder, theft, and false witness are basic moral truths for everyone.

Students benefit from being exposed to these timeless principles rather than the chaos, confusion, and moral relativism increasingly dominating modern education. Parents across Texas are tired of seeing schools prioritize divisive political agendas while refusing to acknowledge the moral foundations that built this country.

Importantly, the law does not force students to participate in religious exercises or require schools to spend taxpayer money purchasing displays. Schools are only required to display donated copies that meet state guidelines. Senate Bill 11 similarly allows districts to establish optional prayer or religious reading periods with parental consent.

The districts under investigation include major school systems such as Austin ISD, Dallas ISD, Houston ISD, Fort Worth ISD, Plano ISD,  and Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. Many of these districts have already faced criticism from parents over political activism, classroom indoctrination, and hostility toward traditional values.

This investigation represents a broader turning point in Texas education. For too long, school bureaucracies have acted as though they are accountable only to activist groups and unelected administrators rather than to Texas families and state law. Attorney General

Paxton’s actions send a clear message that Texas will no longer tolerate school districts openly resisting laws passed by the elected representatives of the people.

Texas must continue standing unapologetically for faith, family, freedom, and the rule of law. The Ten Commandments helped shape the moral foundation of America, and there is nothing wrong with students seeing the values that guided generations before them. Schools should reinforce truth, personal responsibility, respect for authority, and moral clarity, not undermine them.

We appreciate Attorney General Paxton’s willingness to confront activist resistance head-on and ensure Texas law is fully enforced. Texas parents deserve schools who respect their values, uphold moral standards, and remember the principles that made this state and nation strong in the first place.
