TFP APPLAUDS HOUSE JUDICIARY AND CIVIL JURISPRUDENCE COMMITTEE FOR PASSAGE OF HOUSE BILL 888

WEATHERFORD, TX — APRIL 11, 2022 — Texas Family Project’s Policy Director Austin Griesinger issued the following statement:

“Yesterday, the House Committee on Judiciary and Civil Jurisprudence passed House Bill 888, filed by State Representative Shelby Slawson. TFP would like to thank Rep. Slawson for filling this important legislation and Chairman Leach for holding a hearing and bringing the bill up for a vote.”

HB 888 extends the statute of limitations on medical malpractice for the use of hormone suppressing drugs, gender transitioning surgery, and other medical procedures for gender transition that are performed on a minor.

“Passage of HB 888 out of committee is a win for Texas families, but it is only the first step. TFP encourages Texas House leadership to move this bill quickly through the remainder of the legislative process so that its protections are enacted and available to Texans across our state.”
