Texas Supreme Court Defends Marriage

In a victory for religious freedom and common sense, the Texas Supreme Court has affirmed judges in our state cannot be punished for following their faith.

Late last month, the Court amended the Texas Code of Judicial Conduct to make it crystal clear: a judge does not violate ethics rules by declining to perform a wedding ceremony that conflicts with their sincerely held religious beliefs.

This is more than a legal technicality; it’s a defining moment for religious liberty in Texas. It’s a reminder that people of faith should not be forced to check their convictions at the courthouse door.

A Victory for Religious Freedom

For years, left-wing activists have tried to weaponize the courts to force public officials to perform same-sex union ceremonies, regardless of their beliefs.

But the Texas Supreme Court said no more. Our state’s high court has recognized judges, like all Texans, retain their God-given right to live and work according to their conscience.

Judges are not mere rubber stamps for cultural trends, they are human beings with moral frameworks, many of which are rooted in faith. This ruling protects them from being coerced into participating in ceremonies directly contradictory to their religious convictions.

Protecting the Meaning of Marriage

The left would have you believe this decision somehow strips away “marriage equality.” Nothing could be further from the truth!

Same-sex marriage remains legal under federal law. What this ruling actually does is reaffirm a vital truth: no one should be compelled to personally endorse or participate in something that violates their faith.

Marriage is more than a contract, it’s a sacred covenant designed for the union of one man and one woman. That truth has stood for thousands of years, long before activist judges and bureaucrats decided to redefine it.

Standing Up to Intolerance

Predictably, the usual crowd of progressive activists and media outlets are already crying foul. They claim this decision will “harm” same-sex couples or “undermine” equality.

But here’s the reality: no couple has been denied the right to marry! They can still find judges, ministers, and officials who will gladly officiate their ceremony.

What’s really at stake here is the left’s intolerance for faith in the public square. They demand conformity. They want every judge, teacher, and public servant to bend the knee to their ideology.

The Texas Supreme Court just reminded them, and the rest of the country, that in Texas, we don’t bow to political pressure. We stand for truth.

The Bottom Line

Judges should never be forced to betray their conscience to keep their job. The state should never punish a person for honoring God’s design for marriage.

This ruling restores a measure of balance, and sends a clear message: Texas will protect those who stand firm in faith!

TFP is on the front lines for Texas families, as the Left continues waging their anti-family war, and will not back down.
