Predatory pornography websites have been taking over the minds of the youth. A recent controversy involving Mike Farley, a Pornhub executive, has shed light on what many of us have feared – the vulnerability of our children and the potential for criminal exploitation. These predatory companies have now shown us what they have been doing and will continue to do to innocent children.
Pornhub Executive Exposes Their Predatory Schemes
A journalist caught Mike Farley on camera expressing comments about a supposed "loophole" in age verification on Pornhub. He explains that there’s no way to verify the age of someone in a faceless video, which would allow people to post videos of minors if they had access to any adult ID. Farley made comments about the potential for a child sex trafficker or a rapist to use this "loophole" to make money. When asked what would happen to the company if the government were to find out about this loophole he stated that they were “dumb” and “already did their investigation and they were satisfied”.
Pornography’s Effect on the Young Mind
Studies show that pornography has extreme negative effects on the mind. Users of it have shown to have more delinquent and aggressive behavior. We also know that it gives people the wrong impression about what sex is and what it’s used for. Pornography shows sex to be risk free and purely physical when we know God intended sex to be an intimate action for people that are married to bring children into this world.
Federal Courts Are Protecting Predatory Pornography Companies
The easy accessibility of explicit content on the internet poses a clear and present danger to the upbringing of our children. Texas HB 1181 which was supposed to take effect September 1st is still being held in a federal court. Now that Ken Paxton is done with his trial and back in the driver's seat as the Attorney General of Texas, hopefully he can fight this very soon. This was a bill that would ban minors from being allowed to access porn websites but as we just heard, their age verification process is not very thorough.
The Call for Action: Banning Pornography in Texas
I believe it's time for Texas to take a bold stance against these predatory porn companies. We now know that these companies clearly have no regard for the law so an age verification law simply isn’t enough. These companies that are allowing potential child sex traffickers and child rapists to profit from their crime need to go. There is no place in Texas for any company wanting to exploit and sexualize children. We must fight to remove pornography from the state of Texas and put pressure on the legislature to do so.
