Peru Officially Classifies Transgender Individuals As Mentally Ill

The transgender ideology is a false reality that society has created. It forsakes one’s God-given, natural state for evil mutilation of the body and spirit. This idea has had extreme side effects that have impacted not only transgender individuals but also the people around them. Peru has correctly identified the problem and taken action to put a stop to it.

Transgenderism has classically been diagnosed as a mental disorder known as gender identity disorder or GID. In 2013, the American Psychiatric Association removed this condition from the world-leading Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), citing the negative stigma surrounding the term “disorder.” In reality, this change has more to do with the progressive movement and its idea of acceptance rather than being a legitimate medical diagnosis. Transgender individuals still experience much higher rates of mental health issues and a suicide rate that blows other demographics out of the water.

It is not a normal pattern of human behavior to mutilate oneself to “change” genders. The truth is that we are made in God’s image, and our sex is not something that was intended to be altered. This new phenomenon has many people around the world confused about the realities of gender. There are only two genders, and you cannot change between them. That is a scientific fact.

The ramifications of the transgender movement have extended beyond the scope of medical practice. We have witnessed numerous transgender people commit acts of violence and other crimes due to their deteriorated mental state. The Nashville school shooting and the Lakewood Church shooting are just two examples of the rise in violence perpetrated by transgender individuals.

The transgender movement’s influence on children has also grown over the past decade. Children are particularly susceptible to this radical ideology, and the increase in children claiming to be trans is a prime example of this. Fortunately, Texas has taken care of part of the problem by banning the physical transition of minors, but many Leftist educators and parents continue to push this harmful ideology on children by encouraging them to “socially” transition.

The Republic of Peru has decided to address this issue by returning to the pre-2013 standards of psychiatry that have governed Western society since its inception. Peruvian officials have decided to classify transgender individuals for what they are: mentally ill. The United States and Texas should follow a similar approach in classifying mental illness. Texas legislators should take the lead in doing this in the 2025 session to officially put a stop to child transitioning in the Lone Star State.
