The Texas Legislature returns to the Capitol this Monday for a special legislative session — and with it comes a renewed opportunity to put Texas families first. Our state has a chance once again to lead the way by passing strong, meaningful legislation that reflects the values we hold dear.
Several new bills have already been filed, and they cover a range of key issues — from protecting the sanctity of life, to defending women’s spaces, to improving the public education system. The work ahead is vital, and the stakes could not be higher.
Protecting Life in a Post-Roe Texas
Texas has been a national leader in defending the unborn, and this session continues that momentum. Multiple pro-life bills have been filed that take aim at the unregulated distribution of abortion-inducing drugs, create avenues for civil penalties against those who traffic these drugs, and work to close loopholes that allow minors to be transported across state lines for abortions without parental involvement.
These bills are not just about law — they are about building a culture of life in our state. Texans believe every child has value, and our laws should reflect that unshakable principle.
Protecting Women’s Spaces
One of the most critical bills filed this session is House Bill 32, which would ensure that restrooms, locker rooms, and other gender-designated spaces in public buildings are reserved based on biological sex. This is not a controversial position for Texans — it’s common sense.
Women and girls deserve safe, private spaces. Similar legislation was filed and passed through the Texas Senate during the regular session. Senator Mayes Middleton did a fantastic job of carrying that legislation that we believed was almost guaranteed to pass. Unfortunately, the Texas House was where a lot of good legislation was left to die. We believe that this bill will pass through now that there is a narrowed focus on it.
Restoring Sanity in Education
Texas families continue to express frustration with standardized testing, top-down mandates, and the one-size-fits-all approach to public education. There is a growing push this session to eliminate certain state-required assessments that go beyond federal requirements and to give more flexibility back to local districts.
Our education system should serve students and empower parents, not bureaucrats. These efforts to reduce state overreach in schools are welcome and long overdue.
This special session is a chance to reaffirm what Texas stands for. It’s an opportunity for legislators to rise above politics and pass legislation that will make a real difference in the lives of Texans.
Texans must stay engaged. We will continue to post updates about the session on our website about what we are seeing and hearing in Austin. Follow us on social media for the quickest news.
The fight to preserve what makes Texas strong isn’t over. In fact, it’s just beginning. Let’s make this session count.
